The Sunday Citizen Weighted Blanket is different than any other weighted blanket on the market. What makes it unique is the source of the weighted insert. Usually made of glass pellets or organic cotton, Sunday Citizen took a radically different approach and created weight from glass pearls and thousands of crystal pieces. In the Crystal Weighted Blanket, you will find pieces of amethysts, rose quartz, and clear quartz.
In holistic medicine, you will find that each of those crystals have a separate healing property. :
- Amethysts: recognized as a natural tranquilizer, the amethyst relieves stress and anxiety, and soothes your negative emotions. It is also known to relieve of some stress symptoms such as headaches, fatigue, and anxiety. Some even say that keeping amethysts “on your bedside table or under your pillow will aid in a number of sleep problems” by purifying your mind and clearing it of negative thoughts
- Rose Quartz: known as the universal loving stone, it brings you love, harmony, and peace, thanks to its calming properties. Some even say that rose quartz will help increase your quality of sleep by bringing your peace and inducing pleasant dreams
- Clear Quartz: clear quartz is the magnifier of all other crystals. It magnifies the crystal vibrations of the amethyst and rose quartz to bring you in a state of peace and calm and give you the most restorative sleep possible
Together, the crystals work towards a soothing and calming effect. They redirect your energy to give you the most restorative sleep.

Additionally, the weight comes from very fine glass pearls. All crystals and glass are enclosed in a blanket insert sown into small quilts and secured with ties and buttons to ensure that the weight stays evenly distributed over your body the entire night.

How Does The Sunday Citizen Crystal Weighted Blanket Sleep?
Softness
The cover of the Sunday Citizen weighted blanket is what you will feel the most. We tested the Snug Cover and could not believe how soft it truly is. You will be impressed by its thickness and the overwhelming softness. You could choose the Bamboo Cover, which is one of the softest natural materials used in bedding, and probably thinner than the Snug Cover.
Temperature
Because the Snug Cover is so thick and made of 100% microfiber, you will find the Snug Crystal Weighted Blanket to sleep fairly warm. It is ideal for cooler nights or if you are a cold sleepers. Hot sleepers might find it a bit too warm. In that case, opt for the Bamboo cover (same crystal insert!).
Weight
The blanket’s weight is very evenly distributed. The insert is securely fastened by ties and buttons inside the Snug Cover and the crystal and glass pieces are contained in a small quilting patterns, meaning that the weight will never be shifting.
Based on the 10% of body weight rule-of-thumb when picking a weight for your blanket, the Sunday Citizen weighted blankets can work for all body shapes and sizes, from older children to heavier adults.

How Do I Care For My Sunday Citizen Crystal Weighted Blanket?
Sunday Citizen has designed a weighted blanket that is extremely easy to care for, which is a big plus in our books.
The Snug Cover is machine washable on a cold and gentle cycle. You can also dry it on low tumble, which is really convenient.
The weighted insert should only be hand washed, and unless you have a large spill, there should not be much of a need to wash it. But if needed, use a clean cloth and clear water to tend to any stains on the weighted insert. Do not throw it in your washing machine, however. For drying, either let air dry flat.
Ideal Weight For Weighted Blankets
The general rule of thumb for the ideal weight for weighted blankets for adults is 10% of your body weight, plus or minus a couple of pounds. For children, you will find that they generally enjoy 10% to 30% of their body weight on them. Before letting a child sleep with a weighted blankets, ensure that they can safely remove themselves from the blanket on their own!!
Let’s look at an example for most adults: you weigh 150 lbs and 10% of your body weight is 15 lbs. If you add or remove a couple of pounds, the ideal weight for your weighted blanket would likely be 13 lbs to 17 lbs.
The other way to think about this is to look at a 15-lb weighted blanket. It would comfortably soothe a person weighing between 130 and 170 pounds.
Your preference in terms of weight and hugging sensation will impact the ideal weight for your weighted blanket. Most importantly, you need to be able to remove the blanket from your body unassisted.
