The Pillow
The pillow is made of two parts – an outer cover filled with microfiber and an inner insert filled with shredded memory foam. Both can be opened and you can adjust the amount of memory foam you leave inside the pillow.
The Microfiber
The outer cover is filled with a soft down-like microfiber fill that is air blown to avoid clumping. It gives the pillow a soft and huggable feeling, nicely contouring the face and neck, while remaining breathable.
The Memory Foam
The shredded memory foam in the Silk & Snow pillow is not recycled scrap foam coming from leftover mattress material. It is shredded from brand new CertiPUR-US certified memory foam.

Memory foam is known to be a hot, non-breathable material. But in the Silk & Snow Pillow, it is enclosed deep inside a microfiber-fillled cover, which acts as a barrier to the heat. Additionally, the cover is made of 100% cotton, bringing more breathability and we did not think this pillow slept hot (nor cold) in any way. We will call it temperature neutral. |
The outer cover can be washed in cold water, while the inner cover should not be washed. I recommend spot cleaning it with a cloth if needed, but there are little chances it would get stained as it resides inside the thick. microfiber-filled, outer shell. |

The Silk & Snow Pillow checked the boxes in several ways for us.
Not only is it fully adjustable to your desired sleeping preference, it comes with high-quality materials and is manufactured in North America. It looks as luxurious as it feels, and sleeps very comfortable. Should your sleeping style change with time, you wouldn’t need to switch out pillows and add to the landfill – simply add or remove some of the memory foam until the pillow feels just right!
Who Is Silk & Snow?
Silk & Snow is a Canadian mattress and bedding company, established in 2017, by founders obsessed with good nights of sleep, who wanted to create a mattress-in-a-box of higher quality than anything available on the market.
Several years in, they now produce 2 mattresses, 3 bed frames, duvets, sheets, amazing pillows, and a super soft weighted blanket.
I love that they provide full transparency in where all of the materials, used to make their products, are sourced. What Is Inside The Silk & Snow Pillow?
Let’s look at the three parts that make up the Silk & Snow Pillow, independently:
1- the inner pocket is filled with brand new, shredded memory foam, which is CertiPUR-US certified. It gets tested to ensure safety and quality before making it to your bedroom. The major difference with many other memory foam pillows, is that the foam is not recycled scrap foam. It is a high quality foam and you can feel the difference. It is soft, hugging, and the shape of the shred ensures added breathability. This pillow definitely hugged our heads, the more memory foam was in it.
2- the outer cover is filled with down-alternative microfiber. It is breathable and you feel all of the fluffiness, without the actual feathers! To be honest, I am a huge fan of down and have never slept on anything but a down pillow, so I was a bit reluctant to trying out an alternative in microfiber. The result is surprisingly good. I still love my feathers 🙂 but thought that the Silk & Snow microfiber did a good job at mimicking the fluffiness and preventing the clumping that can come with microfiber. They use an air-blown microfiber to ensure it remains evenly spread throughout the night.
3- the outer cover itself is made of 100% OEKO-TEX certified cotton, keeping the moisture away and remaining healthy for our bodies and the environment.
How Does The Silk & Snow Pillow Sleep?
Firmness
The Silk & Snow Pillow truly is designed for all sleepers, since you are able to fully adjust it to your own needs and preference.
Keep it fluffed as it comes, for a firmer option that can work well with side sleepers. It can be a loftier pillow if you remove no, or little memory foam. Again, keep in mind that the Silk & Snow Pillow comes over-filled in order for everyone to be able to customize it.
Adjust the firmness to a softer pillow by removing some of the shredded memory foam from the inner insert.
Temperature
While memory foam can a heating material, it is buried fairly deep inside the Silk & Snow Pillow. With a microfiber-filled outer cover, and a 100% cotton cover, you will find this adjustable pillow to be temperature neutral. It felt neither hot nor cold.
Maintenance
The outer cover is 100% cotton and filled with microfiber. You can wash it on cold as needed.
The inner cover should not be washed, but is buried so far inside the pillow that I wouldn’t expect it to get dirty very easily.
Lastly, I recommend keeping the shredded memory foam you don’t use, in the box the pillow came in. That way, you can easily fluff the pillow back up if needed. Just make sure to keep that foam away from kids and pets!
Sleeping Style
Once again, the Silk & Snow Pillow targets all sleepers. You control its size, loft, and fluffiness. If you are a side sleeper, keep it filled high with memory foam. Removing only a little bit of it will give you a loftier pillow that aligns to your shoulder.
Remove some of the shredded memory foam if you are a back sleeper and like a medium-loft pillow to keep your head and neck aligned.
And if you are a stomach sleeper, I would recommend removing a large portion of the memory foam to get the most comfort out of your Silk & Snow Pillow. It will help you maintain perfect alignment and stay comfortable throughout the night.
Because the Silk & Snow Pillow is fully customizable, it is one of the best pillows for neck pain. Whether chronic or acute, you can adjust the pillow on a nightly basis if needed, to make sure you keep your neck supported and from straining.
How Do I Care For My Silk & Snow Pillow?
The outer cover can be washed on cold. Make sure you remove the inner insert and wash in cold water to get rid of stains.
The insert (with memory foam), should not be washed. I recommend spot cleaning it as needed, but wouldn’t expect it to get very dirty since it lays inside the thick microfiber insert.
