Cool Touch Cover
As soon as you unwrap the Spoon Sleep Hybrid Mattress, you feel cool air come out. The Cool Touch Cover is designed to channel your body heat away from you and keep hot sleepers cool at night, without making cold nights uncomfortable. We sleep tested in Florida and would call this mattress a little cooler than temperature neutral.
4 Inches Of Foams
The Spoon Sleep Hybrid Mattress has 3 layers of foam adding up to 4 inches:
- 1″ of Rely Foam brings a slightly firmer sleep surface with responsiveness so you never feel stuck
- 2″ of proprietary Serene Foam use the Open Cell technology to prevent heat-trapping and provide a cool and dry sleeping surface
- 1″ of 1835 Polyfoam sits below the coils to smooth the coil compression and add life to the mattress
3″ Of Pillar Technology
The proprietary Pillar technology inside the Spoon Sleep Hybrid Mattress is pretty incredible. Think of it as pistons inside the mattress, placed strategically to provide pressure relief to just the right spots and adjusting as you move at night!

I highly recommend the Spoon Sleep Hybrid Mattress to side sleepers. The Spoon Pillars compress in different ways based on where they are located in the mattress. Together with the springs, they allow for extra sinking space for the hips and shoulders. If you are a back sleeper, you will find this mattress comfortable. Most of the foam is firm enough to fully support the body, and the coils do a great job at providing full spinal support. If you are a stomach sleeper, the Spoon Sleep Hybrid works well until 180/200 lbs. Past that, you might find too much sinking in the hip area. This mattress can work really well for couples with different sleeping styles, or combo sleepers who change position during the night. |

It is priced a little high maybe… mostly driven by the premium materials used in the mattress, the proprietary foams used, as well as the fact that it is Made in the USA. But if you can afford it, it is a wonderful hybrid mattress that will keep you cool at night and provide an incredible pressure relief system for side and back sleepers.

What Is Inside The Spoon Sleep Hybrid Mattress?
The Spoon Sleep Hybrid Mattress is made of a combination of 5 layers of foams and coils, inside its Cool Touch Cover. This mattress is designed to keep sleepers from over-heating at night and the Climate Cool Touch Cover is the first step in dissipating excess heat emitted by the body. While hot sleepers will find that they get a cool night of sleep, cool sleepers will feel comfortable in a temperature-neutral environment.
1″ Rely Foam
The upper layer of foam is 2 lbs of hypoallergenic Rely Foam, which provides a medium-firm and responsive sleep surface, so you never feel stuck in the foam. Its Open Cell structure allows for the heat to further dissipate, while creating comfort and support.
3″ Pillar Technology
The second layer inside the Spoon Sleep Hybrid Mattress is an impressive proprietary technology, designed to adapt to each body and its movements. The Spoon Support Pillars are strategically placed to relieve the pressure where needed, especially under the hips and shoulders. Those Pillars act as pistons and compress to provide contouring and pressure relief, and adjust as each sleeper moves at night.
2″ Serene Foam
The Serene Foam is another Spoon Sleep proprietary foam, built with the Open Cell technology. With billions of microscopic air capsules enclosed in it, this foam layer enjoys great airflow to further dissipate body heat and ensure a cool and dry sleep surface.
6″ Quantum Edge Elite
The fourth layer in the Spoon Sleep Hybrid Mattress is made of 6 inches of coils. The Quantum Edge Steel Perimeter frames the coils and gives the mattress a consistent support, all the way to the edge of the bed. Most hybrid mattresses’ coils are encased in foam, but Spoon Sleep’s sleep perimeter is 26% more durable than foam and bends 24% more easily, making this Spoon Sleep mattress an ideal partner if you use an adjustable base.
1″ Polyfoam
The bottom-most layer in the Spoon Sleep Hybrid Mattress is 1 inch of Polyfoam. That high-density foam provides a soft surface for the coils to compress into, adding stability and life to the mattress.
How Does The Spoon Sleep Hybrid Mattress Sleep?
Firmness
The Spoon Sleep Hybrid Mattress tested a 6/10 on the firmness scale. Its soft sleeping surface is firmed up by a strong support base of coils and high-resilience foam. It is the perfect combination of a soft cloud-like feel with a strong and healthy base that supports and aligns the spine.
Sleeping Style
I highly recommend the Spoon Sleep Hybrid Mattress for side sleepers. The Spoon Pillars are a match made in heaven for all of you favoring your side. They compress in strategic places to provide the most pressure relief under the hips and shoulders and adapt to your movement and position at night.
If you are a combo sleeper (switching from side to back) or back sleeper, you will find a very comfortable position in the Spoon Sleep Hybrid Mattress. It is actually a great mattress for couples with different sleeping styles.
A light-weight stomach sleeper could find a good amount of comfort in this mattress as well, though there are better options for stomach sleepers. A heavier-weight stomach sleeper should consider a firmer mattress.
Temperature
Everything in the Spoon Sleep Hybrid Mattress is designed to keep the sleeper cool at night. If you are a cool sleeper, I would not be worried about being cold on this mattress. You can think of it as a temperature-neutral mattress on the slightly cool side. Two of the foams use the Open Cell technology, which uses billions of microscopic air capsules to channel the body heat away from the body and allow airflow to rise to the upper layers and the Cool Touch Cover.
Motion Transfer
We tested the Split King mattresses (2 Twin XL mattresses) and found the motion transfer to be incredible. You will probably find the same to be true on the Queen or King mattresses. The 6 inches of foam over the coils, including 3 inches of Spoon Pillars, cancel most of the motion for a sound night of sleep, even if your partner moves around.
How Do I Care For The Spoon Sleep Hybrid Mattress?
The cover of the Spoon Sleep Hybrid Mattress is not removable. I always recommend using a mattress protector to protect your investment but you can spot clean it as needed. Simply blot the stain with a cloth and mild detergent. Rubbing the stain is not recommended as it could spread it.
