I may risk calling the Baloo Weighted Comforter, my favorite weighted blanket so far!! Now of course… it is not a weighted blanket, but a weighted comforter. The difference, however, is only in the design and width of the comforter vs. blanket. The Baloo weighted comforter and Baloo weighted blankets are similar products, with a small design tweak in the comforter, which we will discuss below.
We also tested the Baloo Linen Duvet Cover, which is an absolute dream. I am using lots of superlatives, and the review hasn’t even started, but I promise you I am not paid to write any of this – just absolutely impressed and in love with the Baloo bedding products. It was our very first try, and we are converted Baloo Living fans!

100% Chemical-Free Cotton
The Baloo Weighted Comforter is made of a cover that is 100% chemical-free cotton. White and ultra-soft, the weighted comforter can be used on its own. It looks good and feels even better. The white provides a calming environment that fits all room decors.
Inside the stitched pockets, the Baloo Weighted Comforter is made of 40% glass microbeads and 60% cotton fill. The fill uses the same chemical-free premium cotton, providing extra plushness and holds the beds in place for an even weight distribution.
This cotton sleeps very soft, and wicks away moisture to ensure you never sweat in this comforter, no matter the weather or season!
Glass Microbeads
Weighted blankets acquire their weights through different materials. The Baloo Weighted Comforters and Baloo Weighted Blankets use lead-free glass microbeads. It is millions of tiny glass beads, that are held in stitched pockets to create an even weight on top of your body.
The weight does not shift inside the comforter during the night, and remains in place on top of you, no matter your body’s movement. Thanks to the small size of microbeads, you are getting a weighted comforter that perfectly conforms to the unique shape of your body.
100% Stonewashed French Flax Linen
The Baloo Linen Duvet Cover is made of 100% stonewashed French flax linen cover.
Linen is a beautiful material that sleeps cool and allows your body to regulate its own temperature. We found it to be a great sleeping material, no matter the season.
We also love linen sheets for how easy they are to wash and dry, and the fact that they start very soft and get softer with every wash!!
No Plastic
If there is one thing you will NOT find in Baloo Living products, it is plastic! Baloo is big on sustainability and their products ship in carton boxes that you can recycle, and are packaged in cloth and linen totes, that can be used as dustbags or re-used for different purposes.

The Baloo Weighted Comforter comes in 2 sizes and 3 different weight options. Choose the option that works for your mattress size and body weight, keeping in mind that you will likely be covering 2 bodies and only benefit from half of the comforter’s actual weight.
Because the Baloo Weighted Comforters have a overhang to fully dress your mattress and resemble an actual comforter (the weighted blankets are much narrower and do not overhang), Baloo made sure that the announced comforter’s weight is only applied to the center of the blanket that covers your body(ies). The overhang on either side of the blanket are filled with cotton, but no weighted microbeads! Note that if you order the 15-lb Queen version, the actual weight of the comforter is 19 lbs (including overhangs).

Detailed Baloo Weighted Comforter Review Conclusion
We are big fans of weighted blankets. Their weight naturally brings calm and relieves stress and anxiety, helping you fall asleep faster and deeper, and stay asleep longer. After your body is fully used to sleeping under a weighted blanket (about a week), you will notice that you do not need to sleep as long, to feel well rested in the morning.
When laying under a weighted blanket, your body reacts in a similar way as it would to a hug or swaddle. The deep touch pressure makes your body naturally release serotonin and oxytocin – the happiness and feel-good hormones and endorphins; and slows the production of cortisol – the stress hormone.
We very much enjoyed testing the Baloo Weighted Comforter, which we think is a huge upgrade on weighted blankets as it fully covers your bed with an overhang, giving the bed a finished look weighted blankets do not offer.
So what do we love about the Baloo Weighted Comforter specifically? Who Is Baloo Living?
Baloo Living is an eco-conscious company, whose mission is to bring natural ways for your body to heal itself and restore its natural balance. What Is Inside The Baloo Weighted Comforter?
The Baloo Weighted Comforter is made of a just 2 materials – chemical-free premium cotton and lead-free glass microbeads! It is the only glass microbead weighted blanket / comforter on the market, that is made of 100% cotton, with no polyester lining or filling!
Chemical-Free Premium Cotton
The Weighted Comforter’s “cover” is made of 100% chemical-free cotton. It is a cotton that we found incredibly soft. Moisture-wicking, it helps your body regulate its own body temperature and sleep cool and dry, no matter the season.
If you decide to use your Baloo Weighted Comforter without adding a duvet cover, that cotton is the material that will touch your skin, and we are very impressed with how soft it is. Baloo Living has decided to design a white blanket, for its calming properties, and added a small stitching pattern to hold the glass microbeads in place and prevent weight shift.
The other way Baloo uses to prevent weight shift inside the weighted comforter, is by filling each stitched pattern with chemical-free premium cotton. This not only keeps the glass microbeads in place, even as you toss and turn, but it adds plushness and comfort to the comforter.
Lead-Free Glass Microbeads
Baloo uses glass microbeads to create weight inside its weighted blankets and comforters.
It is millions of tiny microbeads, held together in cotton fill, enclosed inside small stitched pockets, to ensure an even distribution of the weight over your body. Note that the overhang is weight-free, only filled with premium cotton, in order to prevent the comforter from shifting and sliding off the bed, and to ensure that the weight of the blanket is fully sitting on top of the sleepers, delivering its full health benefits while you sleep!
What Is Inside The Baloo Linen Duvet Cover?
The Baloo Linen Duvet Cover is designed specifically for the Baloo Weighted Comforters and Blankets. As you choose your duvet cover online, make sure to pick with the right model, as each blanket and comforter come in different dimensions!
The Baloo Linen Duvet Cover is made of 100% stonewashed French flax linen, which is one of our favorite materials in bedding. Linen is incredibly soft and gets softer with washes. As it tends to wrinkle, simply take it out of the dryer upon end of the cycle, to minimize wrinkles.
Outside of sleeping very soft, linen is extremely breathable, letting lots of air flow through the cover and reach your body, as well as letting your body heat escape into the blanket. It is our material of choice for extreme weather conditions, as we know it will sleep perfectly comfortable no matter the heat or cold surrounding!
If pilling occurs, it is a natural property of linen. Expect it to happen, though we have not noticed it over our week-long sleep test. We are keeping this comforter on our master bed for now, as we absolutely love it, and I will report on pilling in the coming months! Should you experience some pilling however, know that it is perfect normal for linen. It will not bother you or feel rough as cotton pilling does… you may just find yourself vacuuming the room more often.
Inside the Baloo Linen Duvet Cover you will find ties to match the comforter to hold it in place and further ensure even weight distribution during the night, as well as wooden buttons for a natural finished look.
Lastly, the Weighted Blanket Cover comes in a linen cloth branded tote, which you can use as dustbag to store the cover, or reuse around the home.
How Does The Baloo Weighted Comforter Sleep?
Softness
The outside cover of the Baloo Weighted Comforter is made of very soft chemical-free premium cotton. If you use it on its own, expect a very soft and cozy sleeping experience.
We recommend adding the Baloo Linen Duvet Cover, which is designed for the Baloo Weighted Comforter. Without joking, it may be the softest Weighted Blanket we have ever slept with! The linen used by Baloo is insanely soft, and one of linen’s natural properties is its increasing softness with washes. We are absolutely in love with the softness of this blanket!
Temperature
Because the Baloo Weighted Comforter is made of premium cotton, its natural moisture-wicking properties help your body self-regulate its temperature to keep you at the temperature that feels right to YOU!
Additionally, thanks to the large amount of air in the micro glass beads, there is plenty of air flow going through the blanket as you sleep at night, ensuring you sleep temperature neutral, no matter your bedroom temperature.
If you add the Baloo Linen Duvet Cover, which we highly recommend, you will be adding a layer of breathability and coolness. Linen sleeps incredibly temperature-neutral no matter the season and temperature of your room. It is our go-to material for extreme weathers and you will love the temperature of your Weighted Comforter if you add the Baloo Linen Duvet Cover!
Weight
The blanket’s weight is very evenly distributed. The glass microbeads are securely fastened inside the Baloo cotton-filled stitched pattern. If you use the Baloo Linen Duvet Cover (highly recommended), you will love the ties that ensure the weighted comforter does not shift inside its cover, for an evenly-distributed weight, even with a cover on.
One thing to keep in mind when it comes to the weight of the Baloo Comforter: since you are purchasing the comforter, and it comes with extra blanket to overhang your mattress, as any regular comforter would, note that the overhanging perimeter of the weighted comforter has no glass microbeads in it. The perimeter is only filled with cotton for comfort, to prevent the weight from pulling the comforter off the bed! This means that the weight of the weighted comforter lies in the center of the comforter, to lay over the sleepers. In other words, the 15-lb Baloo Weighted Comforter really weighs a total of 19 lbs – with 15 lbs over the sleepers’ bodies, and 4 lbs around the perimeter of the comforter!

How Do I Care For My Baloo Weighted Comforter And Linen Duvet Cover?
Both products are incredibly easy to clean, since machine washable.
The Baloo Weighted Comforter can be entirely thrown in the washing machine when comes time to wash. Before you do, however, make sure to check your machine’s maximum load to ensure you do not break the tumble. Wash your weighted blanket on its own on cold and low tumble. Then flat air dry – do not dry in a dryer! You will be surprised at how quickly it air dries after having gone through the washer’s tumble.
The Baloo Linen Duvet Cover is made of 100% natural stonewashed French flax linen, which makes its maintenance even easier! We recommend using the linen duvet cover to avoid having to wash the bulkier weighted comforter. For the cover, simply throw in your washing machine on cold and tumble dry on low heat.
Ideal Weight For Weighted Blankets
The general rule of thumb for the ideal weight for weighted blankets for adults is 10% of your body weight, plus or minus a couple of pounds. For children, you will find that they generally enjoy 10% to 30% of their body weight on them. Before letting a child sleep with a weighted blankets, ensure that they can safely remove themselves from the blanket on their own!!
Let’s look at an example for most adults: you weigh 150 lbs and 10% of your body weight is 15 lbs. If you add or remove a couple of pounds, the ideal weight for your weighted blanket would likely be 13 lbs to 17 lbs.
The other way to think about this is to look at a 15-lb weighted blanket. It would comfortably soothe a person weighing between 130 and 170 pounds.
Your preference in terms of weight and hugging sensation will impact the ideal weight for your weighted blanket. Most importantly, you need to be able to remove the blanket from your body unassisted.
