Fits In Existing Frame + Customizable Height

Easiest adjustable assembly ever? Check! Not much of an assembly at all, to be honest! It is so straight-forward that the base comes with no user manual. Inside the main carton, you will find a few boxes - one with the remote + batteries + the main plug. A couple others with bubble-wrapped legs. Simply screw the 6 legs onto the base, connect and plug into power, click in the mattress retainer, and slide into your existing bed frame! No tools required - total assembly time under 10 minutes! |
The Spoon Sleep 900 Adjustable Base has a modern look. It comes in a dark gray upholstery for a nice finish when raised. I love that the 6 feet of the bed can be adjusted to 12", 7", or 5", to ensure the perfect fit into your current bed frame. And you will find that all Spoon Sleep bases are designed a little smaller than the mattress size in order to fit right into your existing bed frame. Simply remove the center beam and/or slats, and move the Spoon Sleep base right inside your bed frame for a perfect fit. |
We found the Spoon Sleep 900 Adjustable Bed to run smoothly and feel very sturdy. It is incredibly quiet and you can raise your head and feet independently of one another. The massage function comes with 3 intensity levels. it uses the 3D-Wave technology, which resembles more of a pulsation than a circular motion but feels great, especially under the legs. The remote comes preset with a zero-gravity and a flat positions, as well as 2 customizable positions, for an easy one-click adjustment of the base. Lastly, in case of a power outage, the base is engineered to automatically flatten back down, which can come in handy! |
The Spoon Sleep Adjustable Base is compatible with most modern mattresses. Do not you use a water bed on an adjustable bed, however. Note that some traditional spring mattresses that use a border rod or wire may not be used with an adjustable base either. The most responsive mattresses will be the 100% memory foam. We tested the Spoon Sleep Adjustable Bed with the Spoon Sleep hybrid mattress (memory foam / coil combo) and it responded really well. The massage function also worked very nicely with those mattresses. In terms of compatibility with bed frames, you will find that the Spoon Sleep Adjustable Bed fits into most existing bed frames. It is built a little smaller than the mattress size, in order to fit inside of your existing frame, saving you the cost of replacing your frame! |
The Spoon Sleep 900 Adjustable Base is designed to carry up to 710 lbs of evenly distributed weight on each base. If you are purchasing a Split King, you will be getting 2 bases, each one capable of carrying 710 lbs, for double the weight allowance. The 710 lbs are inclusive of the mattress! Should the 900 Adjustable Base become overloaded, it will automatically stop responding to the remote to avoid breakage. Simply reduce the weight load to restart the base. |

An adjustable bed can be a luxurious addition to any bedroom, while also solving problems such as snoring and back pain. There is nothing as satisfying as raising your mattress to your favorite position and reading a book or catching up on your current TV show.
We assembled the Spoon Sleep 900 Adjustable Base in a few minutes and it was ready to be slept on! We were very impressed with the ease of install and how well the base reacted to the remote.
We found the remote very responsive and the base’s feet and head move independently of one another. Additionally, the feature we were very interested in testing out was the massage function and it performed incredibly well.
Lastly, we loved that you can customize the feet to three different heights for a flush look with your existing bed frame. The design looks nice and modern and the lift system is the quietest we have ever tested.

Who Is Spoon Sleep?
Spoon Sleep’s main products are their mattresses. They are on a mission to develop a sleep system that adapts to each sleeper and brings balance and peace to different types of sleeping positions, and the adjustable bases are one more way to adjust and customize the bedroom experience to each sleeper.
Their products are all designed and made in the U.S., using innovative, patent-pending foams and coils that disrupt the mattress industry. The Spoon Sleep technologies provide excellent support that adapts to each body and ensures a pain-free night of cozy and cushioning sleep.
What Is Inside The Spoon Sleep 900 Adjustable Base?
The frame of the Spoon Sleep Adjustable Base is made of steel and the sides of the bed are of dark gray upholstery, which gives it sturdy modern elegance, and makes the frame strong enough to support up to 710 lbs.
The Spoon Sleep 900 Adjustable Bed comes with 6 feet, each of which can be adjusted to 5″, 7″, or 12″ in height.
Inside the shipping box, you will find that most of the bed is already assembled. The 6 legs come packaged in bubble wrap in separate boxes. Another box holds the remote, batteries, and the power source.
The remote is grey and rather large, easy to find at night. I love that it lights up when you press a button, making quick adjustments easy in the dark!
Lastly, the bed comes with a strip LED light attached underneath the base for a nice ambient light in the evening.
How Does The Spoon Sleep 900 Adjustable Base Test?
Install
We assembled the Spoon Sleep 900 Adjustable Base in under 10 minutes and tried to make it a lot harder than it was. It is so easy that it comes with no user manual. Take our word for it and don’t try to over complicate it: simply hand-screw the 6 feet, connect the power source, flip and install inside your bed frame, plug it in to power, and click the mattress retainer in. And you are DONE!
Assembling the Spoon Sleep Adjustable Bed was impressively easy. It requires absolutely no tool.
I recommend being two adults when building, for when comes time to flip the base and to carry it inside your bed frame. The steel frame makes the bed a little heavy, and its moving parts can make it tricky to carry as one person, especially as you get into the larger sizes of Full and Queen.
Final Look
The Spoon Sleep 900 Adjustable Base looks modern and elegant. The darker gray upholstery along all 4 sides gives it a nice and finished look when raised.
Additionally, being able to adjust the feet height to 5″, 7″, or 12″, allows for a flush look with your existing bed frame.
Sleep Test
The Spoon Sleep 900 Adjustable Base behaved very nicely during our sleep test and has found a permanent home in our master bedroom.
My 2 favorite features? The ultra-quiet motor moving this adjustable base! If you are sensitive to noise like I am, you will love how quietly this bed moves. And the massage function – it is a pulsating function that can be adjusted to 3 intensity levels and even be placed on a 15-, 30-, or 45-minute timer.
Note that if you get the Split King 900 Adjustable Base, you will feel small vibrations of your own mattress when your partner turns his/her massage program on.
While the remote does not light up on pick-up, it does as soon as you press a button. It has a large number of buttons and the light-up function comes in very handy.
If you enjoy the same positions consistently, you will love being able to pre-set 2 different positions on the remote. It also comes with the automatic zero-gravity position, which I find absolutely perfect to release stress at night.
Compatibility
One thing I love about the Spoon Sleep Adjustable Base, is how universal it is. We will be looking at the mattress compatibility, as well as its bed frame compatibility.
This adjustable base will work well with most modern mattresses. The only mattresses that should not be used on the Spoon Sleep 900 Adjustable Base are water mattresses. They shouldn’t be used on any adjustable base as a matter of fact. Additionally, some older, traditional spring mattresses that use a border rod or wire, may not be compatible with this bed. If in doubt, contact the Spoon Sleep support team. They are U.S.-based, with customer representatives speaking English, Spanish, and French.
We have been testing the 900 Adjustable Base with Spoon Sleep’s own hybrid mattress and it reacted really well to the base’s movement and the massage function.
Let’s talk compatibility to bed frame. Spoon Sleep purposely builds its adjustable bases a little smaller than the standard mattress sizes, to allow you to slide it right inside your existing bed frame. You probably won’t have to purchase a new frame to fit around the Spoon Sleep 900 Adjustable Base! If you have a slatted base, simply remove the wooden slats and, as you’ll see in our assembly video at the top of the article, the Split King base (2 x Twin XL) fits perfectly inside our existing King frame!
Weight Limit
Each Spoon Sleep 900 Adjustable Base can support up to 710 lbs of evenly distributed weight. In other words, don’t try to lift 710 lbs on just one side of the bed, but it will support 710 lbs of body + mattress weight properly laying on the bed.
Note that the Spilt King is made of 2 Twin XL bases – each base will support up to 710 lbs, doubling your total bed charge.

We have just purchased the Spoon 900 bed. I have one question. As the legs are adjustable, if I wanted the height to be higher, can I add an additional spacer to each leg? What is the height of each leg “spacer”?
Hi James, yes absolutely! You can change the height of the legs to 5″, 7″, and 12″. That way, you can have it fit the height of most bed frames 🙂 Changing the height is very easy – all you need to do is screw/unscrew.
