The new 2021 Nectar Mattress is 12 inches thick, an inch thicker than the prior model, a new cooling cover, and slightly different sizes in the Twin and Twin XL models. It has become cooler to the touch while still providing cozy contouring, excellent pressure relief, stability, and spinal support!

Cooling Cover
The Nectar Mattress cover is made of a cooling poly-blend material that feels cool to the touch. Breathable and cooling, it ensures you won’t sleep hot at night. The heat-wicking properties of polyethylene work really well for hot sleepers or when sleeping in hot climates.
3 Layers Of Memory Foam
The Nectar Mattress is made of 3 layers of CertiPUR-US certified memory foams, totaling 12 inches in height. The first layer provides 3 inches of gel memory foam that cradle you to sleep and help relieve pressure in the hip and shoulder areas. Then come 2 inches of transition foam, which is responsive and ensures you don’t feel stuck in your mattress. The bottom 7 inches of foam are firm and provide spinal alignment and pressure-relief area support.
Modern Design
The design of The Nectar Mattress is clean and modern – a very nice twist in the mattress industry. Nectar, overall, has a very fun and hip feel to it and their mattress is the perfect example of a modern design.

I love that Nectar ships their mattresses with free pillows. Twin and Twin XL mattresses come with 1 pillows. All other sizes come with 2 free pillows!

We rated The Nectar Mattress a 6 to 7 out of 10 on the firmness scale, which ranks it average or a little firmer than the average mattress. We felt a lot of soft contouring down the entire body. The top 3 inches of foam are very soft and have a cloud-like sink to them. The slow responsiveness is nicely balanced with a more responsive foam below and a harder foam at the bottom for stability and support. |
The Nectar Mattress sleeps really cool, especially considering it is made all 12 inches of all foam. Its cover has a cooling effect. Cool to the touch, it is breathable and lets air travel up to your body. It works together with the top 3 inches of gel memory foam to keep you cool. It is a great mattress for hot sleepers and we found it to be sleeping temperature neutral. |
A huge plus of The Nectar Mattress is its removable and washable cover. While I would only ever machine wash a mattress cover in case of a major spill or stain, it is nice to know that you can! Whenever possible, spot clean smaller stains with cloth / water / mild detergent. But should a larger stain occur, unzip the mattress cover and run it on your washing machine's cold cycle and gentle dry cycle. |
Because of its fairly average firmness and the amount of support provided by the lower layers of foam, The Nectar Mattress is a great mattress for side, back, and lighter-weight stomach-sleepers! Side-sleepers find lots of soft contouring and pressure relief. Back sleepers enjoy the spinal alignment and support. While stomach-sleepers below 180 lbs, find enough support to protect their lower backs. The Nectar Mattress performed incredibly well in the motion transfer test, making it a great option for couples, especially of different sleeping styles. |

What Is Inside The Nectar Mattress?
The Nectar Mattress is made of 5 distinct layers – its cooling cover, 3 layers of foams, and a non-slip stabilizing bottom cover. Let’s look at the role of each layer independently:
Cooling Cover
The Nectar Mattress’ Cooling Cover is made of polyethylene, a fiber known to feel cool to the touch. It is breathable and helps wick away your excess body heat to leave you sleeping cool throughout the night. We found the Nectar Cooling Cover to do a really good job at sleeping cool. It felt soft and had a very modern bright and quilted look. The Nectar cooling cover is also unzippable and machine-washable, which is amazing in case of larger spills or for maintenance every few years!
3″ Of Gel Memory Foam Nectar Smart Cover
The upper layer of memory foam is 3 inches of gel memory foam. It is the softest of the 3 layers and provides a deep sink and comfortable contouring down the entire body. It is cozy and has the exact feeling you think of when you picture memory foam. It does an excellent job at relieving the deep pressure areas around the hips and shoulders, especially for side-sleepers. It is the cozy and cushiony feeling most of us are after.
2″ Of Transition Foam – Dynamic Support Layer
The second layer of foam acts as a transition layer, between the plush top layer and the firmer bottom 7 inches. It provides resistance against the body and good support of the high pressure areas. It is also the most responsive of the layers, allowing you to never feel stuck in the mattress. It helps make turning around effortless and prevents your body from feeling the firmer foam below.
7″ High Density Foam – Stay-Stable Base Layer
The bottom layer of foam is there to provide support and stability to the mattress. It helps giving The Nectar Mattress a strong structure and ensures proper spinal alignment.
Shift-Resistant Lower Cover
The lower portion of the cover envelops the different layers of foam and is sprinkled with anti-slide shift-resistant material to ensure your Nectar Mattress stays in place.
How Does The Nectar Mattress Sleep?
Firmness
The Nectar Mattress sits right in the middle of the firmness scale. It was a little challenging to rate as the upper foam feels quite soft at first, as you sit on the mattress, but the feel changes for a much firmer one as soon as you lay. Your body hits the lower layers of foam, which are firmer and more responsive, popping your body back up and evenly distributing your weights for a feeling of weightlessness!
Sleeping Style
I can see The Nectar Mattress working for several different types of sleepers. It is ideal for side-sleepers. The upper 3 inches of gel memory foam give plenty of pressure relief to a side-sleeper’s shoulder and hip areas.
Back-sleepers will find The Nectar Mattress very comfortable as well. The bottom two layers of foam allow for perfect spinal alignment and enough bounce to ensure that your body lays in a comfortable and healthy position.
While The Nectar Mattress is not necessarily designed for stomach-sleeper, I am one myself and had no issues sleeping on my stomach. I think it would do OK with lighter-weight stomach-sleepers under 180 lbs. Those above 200 lbs will definitely find it too soft and could suffer from lower back and hip pain in the morning.
Overall, The NeCtar Mattress is a wonderful option for couples with different sleeping style, as it can accommodate different sleepers very comfortably!
Temperature
The Nectar cooling cover does a really good job at sleeping cool. It is breathable enough to provide airflow and wick away your excess body heat. We tested The Nectar Mattress as temperature-neutral and it will work well with hot sleepers who are worried about over-heating in memory foam.
Motion Transfer
This is where The Nectar Mattress shined! Thanks to its 12 inches of memory foam and a top layer with very slow responsiveness, this mattress is absolutely ideal for couples who wake each other up at night.
When we put it through the kids-jumping-on-the-bed test, I barely felt a 9- and a 5-year old jumping right next to me. You will not feel your partner would on his/her side of the bed!
How Do I Care For The Nectar Mattress?
Always remember to use a mattress protector to protect your mattress investment. However, accidents and spill happen, and caring for your Nectar Mattress is a lot easier than most mattresses.
In case of a small spill or stain, try to blot it with cloth / water / mild detergent, as quickly as possible.
Should you discover a larger stain or spill, I love that The Nectar Mattress has a zippable cover that can be thrown in the washer and dryer. I recommend cleaning it alone and on the cold cycle. Dry on the gentle cycle or let air dry, before zipping it back up! Just make sure you have not flipped the mattress, as The Nectar Mattress’ foams are meant to be used in a specific order!
