No Synthetic Materials
With no synthetic materials, this 100% cotton blanket allows you to stay cool, while benefiting from the calming weight it provides. No sweating under this weighted blanket! It is naturally breathable
No Glass Pellets
Because the Silk & Snow Weighted Blanket does not use filling glass pellets, the weight is comfortable and perfectly uniform
Silk & Snow Weighted Blanket Sleep Test
Everything we felt in one box
Since the Silk & Snow Knit Weighted Blanket is 100% natural knitted cotton, it feels much softer than other weighted blankets we have sleep tested.
There is no feeling hot under this blanket! It is hand-knitted in large knits, that let air pass through. Our 8-year old sleeps incredibly hot, and she has claimed it in her room. There is an 8-lb Silk & Snow Weighted Blanket designed for kids. But until we get our hands on it, she has ditched her down duvet and replaced it with this Silk & Snow Weighted Blanket. She claims it keeps her cool at night and she hasn't turned her fan on in nearly 2 weeks!!
100% cotton means that it is super easy to care for the Silk & Snow Weighted Blanket. It is machine washable on the cool cycle (30C), as long as your washing machine can take the weight. I personally prefer to wash it alone, to avoid anything tempering with the hand knitting and color. For drying, lay flat to air dry or tumble dry on low for 2 or 3 cycles. DO NOT hang dry... that would damage the chunky knit structure.
The knits are chunky and wide, and the lack of synthetics and glass pellets, make the Silk & Snow one of the most breathable weighted blankets we have tested. All we felt, was a natural way to de-stress and a comfortable and therapeutic way to unwind.
We sleep tested the 15-lb Knit Weighted Blanket, which is sized for one person. It is the lightest adult model, since the 8-lb one is designed for kids. Because the blanket is so breathable and does not trap heat, it is the perfect weight to lounge or sleep with. It works extremely well for folks 150 lbs or less and who like a mild hugging sensation. Silk & Snow also offers 20-lb and 25-lb options for people respectively 170+ lbs and 250+ lbs in body weight

Detailed Silk & Snow Weighted Blanket Review Conclusion
We have been using the 15-lb Silk & Snow Knit Weighted Blanket for a couple of weeks and really enjoy it. It is the perfect, all-natural blanket for lounging. After a few days of using it on the couch while watching TV, our 8-year old claimed it as hers! It was the perfect option for one adult to relax, or to use lengthwise on several children at once.
But once our daughter decided to give it a try on a hot Florida night (she sleeps incredibly hot…), she never went back. We thought it might be a good option since it is 100% cotton with no synthetics, and known to be breathable, and since the knits are wide and chunky, letting a lot of air in. Now, she refuses to go back to her down duvet and claims that she “no longer needs to stick her leg out of her blanket at night.” She hasn’t even needed to turn the fan on!
Note that Silk & Snow has an 8-lb weighted blanket specifically designed for kids, which would be safer for a child to sleep with. Our 8-year old is very tall and shows no signs of struggle to remove the blanket from her body, which is the reason why we allowed her to sleep with it. To be safe, I recommend using the 8-lb Silk & Snow Knit Weighted Blanket on children.
Who Is Silk & Snow?
Silk & Snow is a Canadian mattress and bedding company, established in 2017, by founders obsessed with good nights of sleep, who wanted to create a mattress-in-a-box of higher quality than anything available on the market.
Several years in, they now produce 2 mattresses, 3 bed frames, duvets, sheets, and amazing pillows.
I love that they provide full transparency in where all of the materials, used to make their products, are sourced. As an example, they highlight the rich heritage of all of the generational family run businesses that are involved in making some of their most popular products such as their mattresses.

What Is Inside The Silk & Snow Knit Weighted Blanket?
The Silk & Snow Knit Weighted Blanket is different than most other weighted blankets. Most are made of a gridded stitched polyester insert enclosing glass pellets.
The Silk & Snow weighted blanket has none of the synthetics and no glass at all. Instead, it is made of 100% eco-friendly natural cotton, handwoven in a large and chunky knit.
The organic cotton makes this blanket sustainable. It is health-conscious and avoids the harmful effects of synthetic textile production on our planet, making it good for us and the Earth.
How Does The Silk & Snow Weighted Blanket Sleep?
Organic cotton always feels softer than regular cotton to me. It is no different here, and the Silk & Snow weighted blanket feels very soft and luxurious. I could see the quality the second I opened the really cute pouch it came in!
This weighted blanket cries for you to come snuggle yourself in its weight. You will want it all over you and will have a really hard time coming out of it.
It is definitely on the top of the softness scale when it comes to weighted blankets.
The cotton and large hand knitting style gives the Silk & Snow weighted blanket a very breathable feel. Expect to feel the therapeutic weight on you, without the warming effects of synthetics.
This weighted blanket is made for the person looking for all of the therapeutic benefits of a handmade blanket, in a very natural way. You will feel a comfortable wave of stress exiting your body nearly instantly and be cooling off and unwinding in a matter of seconds.
With no glass pellets in it, the Silk & Snow blanket has a very evenly distributed weight. It feels very comfortable and I would definitely stick to the 10% of body weight rule-of-thumb when picking a weight for your blanket. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, check the last session in this review.
How Do I Care For My Silk & Snow Knit Weighted Blanket?
Silk & Snow has designed a weighted blanket that is extremely easy to care for, since made of 100% organic cotton.
For washing, use your washing machine on the cold cycle and I would recommend washing on its own. Also check that your washing machine can wash a load as heavy as the weighted blanket you are putting in it.
For drying, either let air dry flat – do not hang the Silk & Snow weighted blanket to dry… you would be damaging the handwoven knits and design. You also have the option of putting it in the dryer, but expect 2 or 3 dryer loads to do the trick!
Ideal Weight For Weighted Blankets
The general rule of thumb for the ideal weight for weighted blankets is 10% of your body weight, plus or minus a couple of pounds.
Let’s look at an example: you weigh 150 lbs and 10% of your body weight is 15 lbs. If you add or remove a couple of pounds, the ideal weight for your weighted blanket would likely be 13 lbs to 17 lbs.
The other way to think about this is to look at a 15-lb weighted blanket. It would comfortably soothe a person weighing between 130 and 170 pounds.
Your preference in terms of weight and hugging sensation will impact the ideal weight for your weighted blanket. Most importantly, you need to be able to remove the blanket from your body unassisted.
