With a luxurious feel to it, the duvet cover is made of a cooling, moisture-wicking, polyester, ensuring the kids don’t get hot at night
Gravity Kids Weighted Blanket Sleep Tests
Everything we felt in one box
The general rule of thumbs in the world of weighted blankets is to choose a blanket weight of 10% your body weight, plus or minus a couple of pounds. The Gravity Kids Weighted Blanket weighs 10 lbs and is recommended for kids 7+. Using the above rule of thumb, it will work well for children 80 to 120 lbs. Our 55-lb 7-year old has been sleeping with this weighted blanket for nearly 10 days and wouldn't give it up for the work. He is able to easily remove the blanket on his own and loves the weight!
The Gravity Kids Weighted Blanket's outer cover is made of 100% cooling polyester - a moisture-wicking and breathable material. My son mentioned getting hotter with it, than he does under his summer down duvet. Note that he did sleep test the weighted blanket during a hot Florida summer period. After 7 nights, I asked him if he wanted to get back to his down duvet, and he strongly insisted on keeping the Gravity Kids Weighted Blanket. During the same time, my husband and I sleep tested Gravity's Cooling Weighted Blanket, which is the adult model of this one, and neither of us felt hot at night.
I love that the outer cover comes off and is machine washable. Our kids like to read in bed after lunch (we homeschool) and their covers can get dirty. You can easily wash the outer cover on the cold cycle and tumble dry it on low. The inner weighted blanket should be spot clean - hand wash and let it air dry when needed. As far as the weighted plush dog is concerned, it should be spot clean only.
The Gravity Kids Weighted Blanket aims at providing a safe and securing weight to relax the child's nervous system. Because Gravity uses a moisture-wicking polyester in this weight blanket, it is not as soft as the original adult Gravity Blanket. While a 100% cotton or plush cover would be softer, I think this is a nice material that combines softness and temperature control throughout all seasons.
The Gravity Kids Weighted Blanket comes in 2 colors - a sea green and a light pink. Its polyester cover gives it a bit of a shine and the outer stitches have a nice, finished, polished look. Overall, a luxurious design that shows the quality of the blanket.

Detailed Gravity Kids Weighted Blanket Review Conclusion
I had our 7-year old active son sleep with the Gravity Kids Weighted Blanket for a week before providing this review. At the end of the sleep test, I asked him if he wanted to get back to his down comforter, and that was out of question for him! He loves his weighted blanket and it seems like it’s been adopted for good!
Who Is Gravity?
Gravity launched with a successful kickstarter in 2017 and is most well-known for its weighted blankets.
Today, they lead the way with their science-backed sleep solutions. While their weighted blanket is their flagship product, they also sell this kids’ weighted blanket, a cooling weighted blanket, a weighted eye mask and robe, a pillow, bedding items, and their newest addition – the Gravity Ice Hybrid Mattress.
Their mission is to bring relaxation to sleepers’ nervous system and they are known for using high-quality materials in their products.
What Is Inside The Gravity Kids Weighted Blanket?
The outer duvet cover is made of 100% polyester cooling fabric – the same fabric used in the adult cooling weighted blanket. It is a light-weighed, moisture-wicking material to ensure the child does not feel hot throughout the night.
The inner weighted blanket uses a precise gridded stitch to ensure the fine-grade glass beads are uniformly distributed and do not shift as the child moves at night.
How Does The Gravity Kids Weighted Blanket Sleep?
This weighted blanket is specifically designed for kids. With its 10 pounds, it is recommended for children 7+. Using the general rule of thumb that recommends using a blanket of about 10% your bodyweight, it is ideal for children weighing 80 to 120 lbs.
Our 7-year old is about 55 lbs and has no problem getting himself from underneath the blanket. He thought the weight was great and loved sleeping with it on him.
The Gravity Kids Weighted Blanket is designed with a moisture-wicking outer cover, meant to keep its sleeper cool at night.
Our little tester said he got a little warm, but bear in mind that he tested the blanket in the Florida summer. My husband and I have been testing the adult cooling weighted blanket, in the same material, and did not feel hot (and my husband is very hot sleeper).
We decided to sleep test the Gravity Kids Weighted Blanket with our VERY active 7-year old. We were interested in testing the calming and deep-sleep properties of the blanket.
The weight of the blanket is supposed to relax the nervous system, providing comfort to the children through “deep touch pressure stimulation.”
This is supposed to increase the hormones responsible for relaxation (melatonin and serotonin), while decreasing the hormone responsible for stress (cortisol).
After a few nights of sleep, we did notice that our 7-year old seemed more rested throughout the day. He went to bed without fussing and generally fell asleep quickly.
Gravity Blankets offers a line of very well thought-about products. They are engineered based on science and made easy for the sleeper.
The inner weighted blanket uses a gridded stitch to ensure the fine-grade glass beads remain in place throughout the night.
But Gravity went one step further in ensuring comfort.
The inner blanket is tied to the outer cover with ties in 8 places. Each corner and each side is tightly tied down to the cover, ensuring that it remains in place and the weight is equally distributed to the body.
Getting Used To
There is definitely a getting-used-to period when switching from a regular comforter to a weighted blanket. I recommend giving the blanket a 3 to 5-night try before starting to reap the benefits.
A weighted blanket sort of limits the amount of turning and twisting in bed, which takes a little while getting used to. It is also a fair amount of weight, which becomes comforting (and honestly, a little addicting) after a few nights.
After about 2 nights, I could tell our little tester really looked forward to getting to bed and snuggling underneath his kids weighted blanket.
Gravity also packaged a weighted plush dog with the blanket, which hasn’t been leaving his side. He jumps in bed and lays with his new furry friend, hugging it to sleep every night!
I want to mention Gravity Blanket’s return policy on their weighted blanket as I think it is excellent and goes above and beyond industry standards.
Since you can’t test the weighted blankets in store, Gravity Blankets gives you 30 days from delivery to submit a return request.
Should you ever need to return your weighted blanket, submit a return authorization request to email@example.com and note that the items must be undamaged, the blanket needs to be returned in its original plastic case, and you will be responsible for all return shipping charges and packaging.
How Do I Care For My Ice Hybrid Mattress?
This is something I love about the Gravity Kids Weighted Blanket – its outer cover is machine washable!! We all know accidents can happen, and I would hate to have a blanket I can’t wash. But with Gravity Kids, it is as easy as unzipping and throwing in the washing machine.
The outer cover can be washed on cold and tumble dried on low. The inner weighted blanket should only be spot cleaned by hand and can air dry as needed.
The weighted plush dog should also be spot cleaned by hand.
