There is so much to be loved about the Sleep Artisan Luxury Side Sleeper Pillow’s cover. Not only is it made of organic cotton and a polyester / hemp blend, but it is zippered and can be machine washed on cold if necessary.
Natural Talalay Latex Pillow
The fill inside the Sleep Artisan pillow is like no other. A mix of 90% cross-cut natural Talalay latex and 10% poly silk fiber, it provides one of the softest and most supportive sleeping surface for the head and neck. The Talalay latex is 100% virgin and Sleep Artisan does not use scraps as other companies do. The latex provides excellent orthopedic support and pressure relief, naturally sleeps cool and resists dust mites and mildew.
Customizable Fill
Because no two sleepers sleep the same, and in order to perfectly conform to your neck and body, the Sleep Artisan Luxury Side Sleeper Pillow is fully customizable. Simply unzip the pillow cover and remove as much Talalay latex filling as you feel necessary to sleep comfortably and supported.

Putting it in the dryer would dry out the natural latex and even void your warranty! The Sleep Artisan Luxury Side Sleeper Pillow is made of 2 parts – its cover and the filling. Let’s look at both independently:
The Sleep Artisan Pillow Cover
Made of organic cotton and a polyester / hemp blend, it is matelasse, providing a thick level of softness and comfort. It is naturally breathable, allowing for the air to flow through the pillow and protecting your face and neck from getting hot at night. I loved the overall plushness of the cover and the fact that, need be, I could unzip it, empty it of its filling, and machine wash it on cold.
Talalay Latex Pillow
Inside the pillow, you will find a proprietary blend of Talalay latex and poly silk fiber. The feeling is unparalleled – a hard-to-describe duo of extreme softness and support. The silk fibers give the pillow all of its contouring softness, allowing the pieces of Talalay to sort of float inside the pillow cover. The natural latex, on the other end, provides more responsiveness, which allow the head and neck to remain supported throughout the night.
The natural Talalay latex is cut into pieces, allowing air to constantly flow through the pillow. Combined with an organic cotton cover, it is an extremely breathable pillow that provides and healthy and fresh night of sleep.
The latex also has natural anti-microbial properties. It is a hypoallergenic material that is ultra resistant to dust mites and mildew. It perfectly conforms to your body’s shape when you lay down on it and supports your head and neck in the aligned position you choose to give it.
How Does The Sleep Artisan Luxury Side Sleeper Pillow Sleep?
Firmness
I tested the Sleep Artisan Luxury Pillow as soft due to the very unique feeling of the latex / poly silk blend inside of it. It does however, provide excellent spinal support and showcased extra responsiveness, keeping your head and spine aligned throughout the night. Just make sure you spend a little time perfectly adjusting the pillow to your specific needs.
For that, lay in your regular sleeping position and remove some of the latex fill. I recommend storing it in a Ziplock, in case you’d ever need to add it back up. The Sleep Artisan Luxury Side Sleeper Pillow comes with a little extra material to make sure that each sleeper has the opportunity to adjust it to his/her own needs. Fluff the pillow by hitting it gently to ensure the fill is well spread inside the cover.
Temperature
You will find the Sleep Artisan Luxury Side Sleeper Pillow to be very breathable. There is an incredible amount of air flowing through the latex pieces and up through the organic cotton cover. It also allows for your extra body heat to escape inside the pillow.
You will find that latex is a naturally cooling material, while organic cotton naturally wicks moisture away. The combination of the two makes for cool nights of sleep, even for the hot sleepers!
Maintenance
The outer pillow cover can be machine washed on cold if absolutely necessary. Most stains should be managed by spot cleaning them with a clean cloth, clear water and mild detergent. However, the harder stains can be removed by machine washing the organic cotton cover, only after completely removed all of the filling.
Drying the Talalay latex would dry it out and would void your warranty. So make sure all of it is out of your pillow cover, should you decide to machine wash it!
Sleeping Style
The Sleep Artisan Luxury Side Sleeper Pillow is specifically designed for the side sleepers, as per its name! It has space for your shoulder to sneak in while giving your head and neck a 360 support and contouring.
I love it for side sleepers as you can fully customize it and adjust its thickness to your neck. Make sure you spend enough time, and several nights tweaking the height until you are perfectly happy with it. Your neck should be perfectly aligned and not bending one way or another. That will ensure you are getting a healthy night of sleep.
Now, I also believe that the Sleep Artisan Luxury Pillow can be a great option for the combo sleepers who shift from side to back during the night. You might just need to adjust to a slightly lower pillow to ensure your neck does not bend forward when sleeping on your back!
How Do I Care For My Sleep Artisan Luxury Side Sleeper Pillow?
The easiest and safest way to care for your Sleep Artisan Luxury Side Sleeper Pillow is to spot clean it with a clean cloth, water and a mild detergent.
Should you need to tend to a larger, more strenuous stain, you have the option to unzip the cover, remove all of the Talalay latex / poly silk filling (super important to not void your warranty!!!!!) and wash the cover on your machine’s cold setting.
I personally would try first to tend to stains with a cloth before machine washing it, but I love that you have the option to machine wash if needed!
