HOW TO FOLD A FITTED SHEET - 6 BEST TIKTOK VIDEOS

If you Googled “how to fold a fitted sheet,” I am assuming it is a frustrating part of your laundry days… and I’d have to agree with you!

Let’s take a look at the best How To Fold A Fitted Sheet TikTok videos (who knew there were so many!), to see if they can spark a light of genius in us! Because, not only is the process infuriating… but if you are slightly anal about order, a poorly folded fitted sheet leaves your linen closet looking like a war zone!

Let’s fix that!

Table of Contents

After spending WAY too much time scrolling TikTok for the best ways to fold a fitted sheet (it’s OK, we love you all), we have identified 2 folding methods worth noting and trying out!

We named the first: Flip-Over Tuck-In Fold, and the second Double-Tuck-In Fold. After practicing on Twin, Queen, and King-size fitted sheets, both of those methods will get you a beautiful fold after some practice, though we have a slight preference for the first fold!

Let’s take a look at both folding methods. We are sharing our top 3 TikTok videos for each, so you get a good idea of how to best fold your fitted sheet.

The Flip-Over Tuck-In Fold

The #1 technique we recommend to fold your fitted sheet, involving fewer steps and a slightly faster process, is the Flip-Over Tuck-In Fold. We love that one for having fewer potentially-confusing parts, but note that you will need a bed, or table, to get it done easier.

1- Lay your sheet flat, elastics up, in front of you, short side in front of you

2- Flip-over the two corners closest to you and tuck them inside the two corners laying furthest away

3- Proceed to fold your sheet into smaller sections until you get a thin rectangle

4- Fold your thin rectangle into smaller rectangles and you can even tuck in the one end into the opposite end, for a cleaner fold (see third video)

The Double-Tuck-In Fold

The Double-Tuck-In Fold involves some extra tucking-in, which can be a little confusing, however you can swing this one standing, and require less table/bed space, making it easier to fold your fitted sheet from a smaller laundry room, or even the laundromat! You may need to watch and pause those TikTok videos a couple of times in a row until you get the hang of it.

1- This one is easiest to try with the long side towards you. Lay your sheet flat, elastics up, in front of you

2- Flip-over the two corners closest to you and tuck them inside the two corners laying furthest away

3- Then comes the second corner flip-over (watch the TikTok videos below to better understand this step)

4- You will be left with more of a flat square than a rectangle and can proceed to folding into a smaller rectangle

How To Fold A Fitted Sheet In 9 Steps

For those of you doing better with words than TikTok Videos, here are the 9 detailed steps to follow to neatly fold your fitted sheet:

Step 1: Set Yourself Up For Success

Before you begin, ensure you have a clean, flat surface such as a bed or table to work on. While you can do this without a flat surface, having ample space will make the process easier. Grab the fitted sheet you wish to fold.

Step 2: Orient the Sheet

Start by holding the sheet lengthwise (long sides parallel to you, short sides to the right and left of you), with the elasticized edges facing you (up side). Locate all corners and note that the elastic edge of the fitted sheet is usually tucked inward.

Step 3: Place Your Hands to Flip Over the Corners

Place your hands inside the two adjacent corners closest to you by flipping the corner over. Ensure that you have one hand in each corner. These will be your anchor points throughout the folding process.

Step 4: Bring the Corners Together, Fold Horizontally and Tuck In

Keeping hold of the corners, fold the sheet in half horizontally. Tuck in the sides you are holding, inside the opposite corners, creating a pocket with the fitted corners and smooth edges on the outside. Ensure that the elasticized edges remain tucked inside and are aligned neatly, and smooth out visible wrinkles or creases.

Step 5: Fold into Thin Rectangle

Fold the sheet vertically into a long and thin rectangle, so that the elasticized edges are concealed inside the folds. This step helps to further compact the sheet for a tidier fold.

Step 6: Final Fold

With the sheet now folded long, take one end and fold it towards the center, continuing to fold in thirds or quarters until you achieve a compact square. The size of the square will depend on the dimensions of your fitted sheet, as well as the shape you want it to have for your particular shelf / basket / closet.

Smooth out any wrinkles or creases as needed.

Step 7: Store with Care

Congratulations! You have successfully folded a fitted sheet. To maintain its neatness, store the folded sheet in a designated linen closet or drawer – baskets work really well too. Consider placing it alongside other folded sheets to maximize space and keep your linens organized.
