Made from harvesting the pulp of trees, it is a natural and sustainable materials that has gained in popularity of the last few years, thanks to its extreme softness and breathability. It adds softness and cozy comfort to the Twilla Pillow and we never suffered from heat as it helps the body auto-regulate its temperature.
Airy Light-Loft Feeling
The Twilla pillow cover itself, is a thick down-alternative filling of light and airy threads. It creates just the fluffiness you need to feel cradled to sleep, without adding extra support (which you can customize with the pods below). The filling, just like the Tencel cover, is hypoallergenic, making the Twilla Adjustable Pillow a great option for those suffering from allergies or skin conditions.
10-12 Cooling-Gel Foam Pods
The foam pods are used to customize the feel and shape of the Twilla Pillow. With 10 pods included in the Queen size pillow, and 12 in the King, you have the option to arrange them inside the pillow cover to your preference. The foam pods are filled with cubed cooling-gel-infused memory foam. The foam is further designed to pull your body heat away from your body and prevent sweating. We love the pods, as they are easy to handle and super clean to use, as you won’t be dealing with excess foam and fibers getting stuck in zippers, or needing to be stored in a plastic bag. The pods are easy to handle, and any extra can be stored in a pouch provided with the pillow.
Adjustable Firmness and Shape
Like any other adjustable pillow, you can control and adjust the firmness of the Twilla Adjustable Pillow. Simply add of remove foam pods inside the cover, until you reach your preferred comfort level. The Twilla Pillow is more than that though, and lets you customize the shape of your pillow. Depending on your sleeping style, add more pods to one side if you are used to rolling over to a specific side, or add more pods on either side of the pillow if you are looking for gentle cradling. For neck pain, you can add pods to the front of the pillow to morph along the natural curve of your neck!

What Is Inside The Twilla Adjustable Pillow?
The Twilla Adjustable Pillow is made of 2 parts – its cover and the inner foam pods. Each of those parts are made up for different materials, let’s look at both independently:
The Twilla Adjustable Pillow Cover
The Twilla pillow cover itself, is made of Tencel, which is our favorite bedding material for multiple reasons. Softer than nearly every other material, anti-allergenic, breathable, cool sleeping, natural, and sustainable, Tencel should be on your short list too!
Here, the Tencel Twilla pillow cover is extremely soft and comfortable, and helps your face and neck regulate their own temperatures, to avoid sweating and overheating at night.
But the Twilla pillow cover is not just made of Tencel. Tencel is the closest part to your head, however it is filled with airy Light-Loft threads. Those threads create a down-alternative filling that feels soft and cozy. It adds just the flufiness you need to feel cradled to sleep, without stealing the support from the foam pods below.
We love that the threads are made of hypoallergenic material, making the entire Twilla cover a great option for those suffering from allergies and skin conditions. It repels mold, mildew, and dust mites, which is a great plus!
Inner Cubed Foam Pods
The design of the foam used in the Twilla Pillow makes it really standout from other adjustable pillows. In regular adjustable pillows, you will find shredded foam and threads inside the pillow cover. Removing and storing them is messy. Twilla does things very differently. They have engineered a very simple solution, which not only makes the process cleaner, faster, and easier, but also allows you to customize the shape of your pillow.
The cubed foam is contained in pods that are stitched shut, so no foam ever gets loose. The pods are super easy to take out to add in, and can be stored in a cloth bag provided, to protect them from dust until you need them again.
Inside those pods, you will find cubed (not shredded) cooling-gel-infused foam. Pulling your excess heat and preventing the foam from heating up, the pods create the support your head and neck needs depending on your favorite sleep position. Since the foam is held in smaller containers, you can easily pile two or three up to change the shape of your pillow to your exact preferences.
How Does The Twilla Adjustable Pillow Sleep?
Firmness
The Twilla Adjustable Pillow allows for full customization of firmness, thickness, and shape. Depending on your sleeping style, remove or add as many foam pods as you need to, in order to align your neck and spine in a healthy position.
Note that the Twilla Adjustable Pillow comes filled with what most back sleepers would find comfortable. If you are a back sleeper, start from that base! From there, adjust to their exact needs. You can make this pillow as firm or soft as you’d like, and pile multiple pods on top of each other to add shape to your pillow, especially important if you are a combo sleeper who moves from back or stomach, to side! We also like the option to add pods to either extremities of the pillow, for back sleepers to feel cradled to sleep!
Temperature
Because of its Tencel cover paired with airy threads and cubed cool-gel foam, the Twilla Adjustable Pillow sleeps totally temperature neutral. You will neither be cold nor warm laying your head on this pillow, and you should not be sweating either.
Thanks to the natural moisture-wicking properties of Tencel and the airy cooling-gel foam, you will find that your head rests on the perfect temperature. The Tencel even allows your body to self-regulate to its own temperature, and the cooling memory foam shredded to small cubes means that your body heat does not get trapped inside the pillow.
Maintenance
The Twilla Adjustable Pillow is made of two pieces.
The pillow cover can be unzipped and machine washed in cold water. You can further dry it on low tumble or let it air dry. This is the most convenient way to maintain a clean pillow night after night.
The foam pods should be spot cleaned with soapy water and a clean cloth. If absolutely necessary, you can machine wash them on cold in a gentle cycle and tumble dry on low. However, make sure to finish drying them out so they are completely dry before being re-inserted inside your Twilla Pillow.
Sleeping Style
Because you can adjust the Twilla Pillow to your desired shape and firmness, we can recommend it for all sleeping styles, without reserve. Make sure to watch our video at the start of the article to visualize this section!
Back sleepers should first test out the Twilla Pillow as it comes, as it may be very comfortable right out of the box. If needed, adjust with more or less pods, depending on your personal preferences.
Stomach sleepers may need to remove some pods. Leaving just 3 or 4 pods, spread equally inside the pillow, or even removing all pods (for light-weight stomach sleepers), should work really well for stomach-sleepers’ needs.
Side sleepers will probably end up using nearly all pods, to ensure the pillow supports the curvature of the neck and the heads lays in a spine-aligned position.
I believe that the beauty of the Twilla Adjustable Pillow lays with combo sleepers – those who switch position throughout the night. Because you can fully customize the shape of the pillow, you should add pods on the sides you lay on your side – this could be both sides, or just one if you favor one side over the other.
Neck-pain sufferers should consider adding pods to the front-end of the pillow, across its whole width. This will re-established the natural curvature of the neck and position your head exactly where it needs to be to reduce pain.
Lastly, if you are a back sleeper who likes the feeling of being cradled to sleep, add pods to either sides of your head and get lulled to sleep!
Make sure that, every time you add or remove pods, you fluff your pillow to spread the foam naturally inside the pillow.
How Do I Care For My Twilla Adjustable Pillow?
Twilla makes it easy and convenient to care and maintain your Adjustable Pillow. The outer Tencel cover can be machine washed in cold water, and dried on low tumble.
The inner foam pods are best spot-washed with a cloth and soapy water. If absolutely needed, you can throw the pods in the washer on cold, and tumble dry low. Just ensure that they are entirely dry (may need some sunning) before re-inserting into the pillow cover!
