Sunday Citizen Silky Lyocell Stitch Comforter - Composition

The composition of a comforter is the foundation for its comfort and performance, and the Sunday Citizen Silky Lyocell Stitch Comforter shines in this regard.

Its cover, which touches your body as you do not need to cover the comforter with a cover, is made from 100% TENCEL Lyocell, a sustainable fabric known for its breathability and incredible softness. Lyocell is a form of rayon made from cellulose, derived from wood pulp, most often sourced from eucalyptus trees. TENCEL happens to be our personal favorite material in bedding, for its softness and sustainability, making it a great choice for eco-conscious buyers. It is produced in closed-loop production lines that reuse water, and the pulp of the trees can be harvested without cutting down trees, while preserving forests that naturally grow without the need for pesticides.

The Sunday Citizen Silky Lyocell Stitch Comforter features a microfiber filling made of recycled polyester from recycled PET bottles. The filling contributes to its fluffy, down-like feel without the use of animal products. The choice of microfiber provides warmth without excessive weight, making it ideal for all-season use. While we personally prefer natural materials in bedding, recycled polyester is an eco-friendly material that saves PET bottles from entering our waterways and polluting our oceans.

The stitching in the comforter not only adds an upgraded design element but also ensures that the filling stays evenly distributed, avoiding clumping over time.

What is TENCEL Lyocell?

TENCEL Lyocell is a type of fabric made from the cellulose fibers of wood pulp, typically from trees like eucalyptus or beech. It’s known for being both eco-friendly and incredibly soft, making it a popular choice in the textile industry, especially for luxury bedding products.

The production of Lyocell is much less harmful to the environment compared to other synthetic fabrics, as it uses less water and fewer chemicals. This makes the Sunday Citizen Silky Lyocell Stitch Comforter a great option for those looking to make more sustainable choices.

This comforter is designed with hot sleepers in mind. TENCEL Lyocell is a naturally breathable material, which allows for excellent airflow throughout the night. The softness shines in this Sunday Citizen lyocell comforter. Laying in bed feels like sliding in an envelop of softness, and it is our favorite feature about the Silky Lyocell Stitch Comforter. It makes it hard to get out of bed in the morning!
The Sunday Citizen Silky Lyocell Comforter is super easy to wash in the washing machine – a big plus as it is designed to be used without a comforter cover. You can tumble dry it on low as well. Minimum washer-size requirements: top load 3.5 cu. ft., front load 4.8-5 cu. ft..

One of our favorite things about all things Sunday Citizen, is the softness of its products. We have never laid our body on Sunday Citizen products that weren’t buttery soft! They honestly take softness to the next level! Find our other Sunday Citizen reviews here.

The Sunday Citizen Silky Lyocell Stitch Comforter lives up to its name by delivering a silky-smooth feel that is gentle against the skin and boasts the buttery softness of silk without the crispiness. Lyocell is known for its luxurious, silky texture, often compared to cotton or silk, making it an ideal material for those with sensitive skin or who simply prefer ultra-soft bedding.

When you first touch the Sunday Citizen comforter, you will immediately notice its smoothness. It is designed to be soft straight out of the box, with no need for washing or conditioning to achieve that comforting feel. This makes it perfect for sleepers who value bedding that feels instantly inviting and cozy.

How Does the Softness Compare to Other Comforters?

Compared to other comforters in the same price range, the Sunday Citizen Silky Lyocell Stitch Comforter definitely stands out for its softness. It feels a lot softer than traditional cotton comforters or those with polyester blends, and its stitching adds a clear touch of luxury to any bedding setup.

Temperature Regulation

For anyone who tends to overheat at night, the temperature-regulating properties of the Sunday Citizen Silky Lyocell Stitch Comforter are a huge plus. Lyocell is a naturally breathable material, which allows for excellent airflow throughout the night. This helps to wick away moisture and keep you cool, even in warmer climates or during hot summer months.

The microfiber filling is lightweight yet retains enough warmth for colder nights, making this comforter a versatile year-round option. If you’re someone who experiences fluctuating body temperatures during sleep or lives in a region with varying seasonal temperatures, this comforter can adapt to your needs.

Temperature Regulation and Lyocell

The natural moisture-wicking properties of Lyocell help to regulate body temperature by absorbing excess moisture and allowing it to evaporate quickly. This keeps the sleeper dry and comfortable in its body’s favorite temperature, contributing to a more restful night’s sleep. If you’re prone to night sweats or live in a humid environment, the Sunday Citizen Silky Lyocell Stitch Comforter could be an excellent solution to help you stay cool and dry.

Maintenance: Easy to Care For

Keeping your comforter clean and well-maintained is essential for ensuring its longevity, especially as the Sunday Citizen Silky Lyocell Stitch Comforter is designed to be used on its own, with no top sheet or cover around it.

The comforter is designed for easy care. It is fully machine washable, which is a huge advantage for busy individuals who prefer low-maintenance bedding.

To wash the comforter, simply place it in a large-capacity washing machine on a gentle cycle with cold water. Ensure that your washing machine meets the following minimum-load requirements: top load 3.5 cu. ft., front load 4.8-5 cu. ft. If yours does not, you can take it to a nearby laundromat, which typically has larger washing machines.

Use a mild detergent to preserve the softness and structure of the comforter and set the cycle on low, or no, tumble. Once the comforter is washed, you can run a low tumble cycle once or twice, to get rid of excess water.

After washing, the comforter can be tumble-dried on a low setting, though air drying is always an option.

Is Lyocell Easy to Care For?

Yes! One of the great things about Lyocell is that it’s incredibly easy to care for, especially compared to fabrics like silk or down. While other high-end materials might require dry cleaning, Lyocell can be washed and dried at home without losing its softness or breathability.

We love that TENCEL is also quite wrinkle-resistant. We took the comforter out of the dryer as soon as it rang, and it had very minimal wrinkles, which were gone by evening. This makes the Sunday Citizen comforter an excellent choice for people who want luxury bedding without the high maintenance.

Options: Colors and Sizes

Who Is the Sunday Citizen Silky Lyocell Stitch Comforter Good For?

While the Sunday Citizen Silky Lyocell Stitch Comforter is designed to appeal to a wide audience, there are certain types of sleepers who will benefit the most from its unique features.

Ideal for Hot Sleepers

If you tend to overheat at night, this comforter’s breathability and moisture-wicking properties make it an ideal choice. The Lyocell fabric and lightweight microfiber filling work together to keep you cool throughout the night, reducing the risk of waking up sweaty or uncomfortable. Do not shy away from it if you prefer a cozy bed, as the materials help your body auto-regulate its own temperature, making it a great year-round option.
