Unlike the Eight Sleep Pod Pro Cover, the OOLER gives you the option to purchase its cooling device for one person only – when selecting your OOLER, choose the ME OOLER. The ME option covers half of your Queen, King, or California King mattress, and comes with its own OOLER control unit.

It comes as a large zippable cover, encasing your entire mattress, and just 1 Hub. A single water tube connects the Hub to the Eight Sleep Pod Pro Cover, and you only need access to 1 plug for the Hub.
While the price for the Eight Sleep Cover is higher than the OOLER (especially if you are only needing the ME OOLER, designed for 1), it comes with many more benefits. It is absolutely worth it, if you are interested in adding a smart bed function to your cooling device. The Eight Sleep Pod Pro cover tracks several important health metrics, and is AI powered. It learns from your sleep and movement, and adjusts itself on its own, to react to the changes in your body and in your room, to keep on providing the perfect sleep temperature.
You may think that you need a warm bed in the middle of the night, but if the Eight Sleep Cover notices more tosses and turns, or even moments awake during warmer temperatures, it will decrease the temperature of your cover and work towards getting you back to sleep.

Here are our thoughts:
- If you are looking for an option for a single adult (even if sharing the bed with a partner, one person only may need a cooling or heating mattress pad), the OOLER comes well ahead in pricing. You can get a Half Queen ME OOLER for $799, which is $1,000 cheaper than getting the Queen-size Eight Sleep Cover
- If you are looking for a couple’s option, however, the race is much closer. The Queen-size WE OOLER comes in at $,1499, $300 shy of the Eight Sleep Pod Pro Cover. It is up to you to decide whether you are interested in the AI-powered Cover, as well as health reports and a neat library of relaxation content.
Detailed OOLER vs Eight Sleep Reviews Conclusion
Overall, if you are strictly looking for a mattress pad that cools and heats you on demand, both the OOLER and the Eight Sleep Pod Pro Cover do a wonderful job. The extra 5 degrees Fahrenheit of heat on the OOLER are not enough of a difference to justify the OOLER over the Eight Sleep – to be honest, we never came even close to getting to 110 degree F, as it would have been way too hot to be comfortable.
Price
The price is probably the first main difference between the two products. If you are a single person and find the Eight Sleep Cover on the pricey side, the OOLER will be a great option. If you are a couple, it is up to you to decide whether the autopilot / AI and health reports of the Eight Sleep are justified by the extra cost. If you ask me, I’d say yes.
Set Up
I love that the Eight Sleep only uses one plug and one Hub. The Eight Sleep Hub is also more space efficient, however, depending on your frame, the OOLER control unit is flat enough to slide right underneath your bed frame.
Noise Level
One major difference in using both products, is the noise level. The OOLER produces a fairly constant white noise that is definitely noticeable. The Eight Sleep Hub is barely noticeable. It is nearly silent. If you are looking for white noise, go with the OOLER – it even gives you the option to be louder, if you are looking to cover street or neighbor noises for example. If you value quiet, the Eight Sleep will be more your style.
Style
While the attachment style is different, we never had an issue with the OOLER snapping off of our mattress, so both are fairly comparable.
Gentle Alarm
If waking up silently, not to wake up a partner, or just as a more natural way to wake up, is important to you, listen up. The OOLER will wake you up by raising its temperature. It will naturally wake your sleeping body. The Eight Sleep uses a gentle chest vibration system. You can schedule the Eight Sleep to raise its temperature as well, if that is something you appreciate. Both are gentle ways to wake up, though quite different.
AI Power
To me, the biggest difference to consider, after the financial impact, is the AI power of the Eight Sleep. I have loved seeing the app getting to know my partner and I. It delivers a smart heating / cooling function, which goal is solely to keep you asleep deeper. It learns from your sleep data every night, and gets smarter with every sleep. The AI ends up knowing your needs better than you do, providing you with smart sleep that gets you more rested when you wake up.
Comfort
If you are considering either of those products, you have a mattress that you enjoy and want to keep sleeping on (if not, have you considered the Eight Sleep Pod Pro?). The Eight Sleep Pod Pro Cover is thicker and more padded than the OOLER, providing more comfort than the OOLER. We did feel the water tubes a little bit in the OOLER, while not at all in the Eight Sleep Cover.
OOLER Review
The OOLER is a ChiliSleep product by SleepMe. ChiliSleep is a company dedicated to providing cooling and heating options for your bed. They have several products for sale, at different price points, and the OOLER sits right in the middle. We have had a great experience testing the OOLER. It performs as expected and we love the option to purchase a single unit and save. The Chilipad mesh cooling pad is thin enough to not bother a partner who would not be using an OOLER.
We did slightly feel the water tubes while laying on the OOLER, which is not a huge deal, and noticed white noise from the control unit (can be a plus for some). However, it worked as expected and kept us cool on hot nights, as long as the room temperature isn’t too crazy hot.
Eight Sleep Pod Pro Cover Review
The Pod Pro Cover is Eight Sleep’s direct competitor to the OOLER. It is the technology portion of the Eight Sleep Pod Pro, which includes a whole mattress with it!
We like our comfortable and plush it feels, without feeling the water tubes. The Hub is nearly silent and the performance is incredible! We did not notice bedroom temperature to have an impact on the temperature achieved by the Eight Sleep – it cooled lower than we could handle, and heated higher than we could handle as well! We also loved that the Eight Sleep Cover starts cooling the bed 30 minutes prior to your schedule going-to-bed time, to be at your desired temperature by the time you get in!
We absolutely love the extras coming in the app – it is not just a cooling device, but a smart bed as well. The Eight Sleep app delivers in relaxation as well, with a well furnished library of content.
It is a bit more of an investment, which we believe to be worth it if you want all the bells and whistles, but never put yourself in a financial position of stress to acquire technology!

what are the differences in EMF levels for ooler vs eight sleep? online research seems to indicate that EMFs are zero for ooler but higher for the podpro part since it stays on and connected through the night/ does anyone have expert / informed views on this? and should onle even stress about EMF levels given computers / wifi / phone chargers are already in the bedroom??
Hi Melanie, this is an excellent question. When SleepMe says no EMF in their OOLER, there is only no EMF in the cover itself, since there are no electric cables running through. The Cube (the unit on the floor that controls the OOLER) does emit EMFs. At 1 foot, it measures around 0.7mG when on coolest setting. At 2 feet, you’re looking at 0.2mG. Both of those are in the yellow zone. It gets safe at 3 feet with 0.09mG and only 0.05mG at 4 feet. Both of those measures are pretty average measurements for anywhere in your home, really. The Eight Sleep emits around 0.1 on its cover, and the Hub has similar measurements to the OOLER’s Cube.
Which one(s) can you use with an adjustable bed? Which one(s) cools all the way down no matter the size and weight of the person? I have an Ooler and I can use it on a flat mattress or if either the head or foot is in the highest ‘up’ position. However, even if the room is at seventy degrees and I set my Ooler to fifty-five degrees, the Ooler won’t go lower than sixty-three degrees. What about the monthly plan that you’re required to get with 8Sleep? These are things consumers need to know.
Neither the OOLER nor the Eight Sleep should be used on an adjustable base, as it will create kinks and block the cooling / heating functionalities. The OOLER does not work amazing if you have too much of a temperature difference between your setting and room temperature. The Eight Sleep is much more performing if your bedroom experiences extreme temperatures. Both the Eight Sleep and OOLER require a membership for full functionalities and AI.
