The AI from Chili’s Sleep Tracker allows the Dock Pro to smartly raise or decrease the temperature based on your bodily response. It also tracks your heart and sleep data, similarly to the Eight Sleep systems.

Here are our thoughts:
- If you are looking for an option for a single adult (even if sharing the bed with a partner, if only one person needs a cooling or heating mattress pad), the Dock Pro comes well ahead in pricing. You can get a Half Queen ME Dock Pro for $1,149, which is $1,146 cheaper than getting the Queen-size Eight Sleep Cover
- If you are looking for a couple‘s option, however, the race is much closer. The Queen-size WE Dock Pro comes in at $1,899 – $396 shy of the Eight Sleep Pod 3 Cover, but does not track health or sleep data, nor does it include the AI technology to keep your cover on auto-pilot and provide uninterrupted sleep. If this is not of interest to you, then the Dock Pro is roughly $400 cheaper. If you are interested in an AI-powered cover, as well as health and sleep reports, then both options are within $5 of each other
- The memberships are priced differently, with a slightly more expensive membership ($9 / month) for the Eight Sleep. The Eight Sleep app, however, has more content, more data tracking, and a day-by-day scheduling option – useful if your schedule looks different on certain days of the week/weekend
Detailed Dock Pro vs Eight Sleep Reviews Conclusion
Overall, if you are strictly looking for a mattress pad that cools and heats you on demand, both the Dock Pro and the Eight Sleep Pod 3 Cover do a wonderful job. The extra 5 degrees Fahrenheit of heat on the ChiliSleep Dock Pro are not enough of a difference to justify the Dock Pro over the Eight Sleep – to be honest, we never came even close to getting to 110 degree F, as it would have been way too hot to be comfortable.
There are several differences and similarities worth exploring as you compare both bed cooling systems:
Price
The price is probably the first main difference between the two products. If you are a single person, or only one partner wants a cooling / heating solution, the Dock Pro will be a much cheaper option than the Eight Sleep Pod 3 Cover. Even if adding the Sleep Tracker to rip the full benefits of the Dock Pro, you are looking at a ~$900 discounts over the Eight Sleep Cover.
If you are a couple, it is up to you to decide whether the autopilot / AI and health reports of the Eight Sleep are justified by the extra cost. (If you ask me, I’d say “yes without a doubt.”) If you do decide to opt for the AI and tracking of the ChiliSleep Sleep Tracker, you will be adding $398 to your Dock Pro bill, and both cooling systems will be exactly the same price. In that case, keep reading to see which system might fit the bill for you best!
Set Up
I love that the Eight Sleep only uses one plug and one Hub. The Eight Sleep Hub is also more space efficient (narrower and can fit between your bed frame and your bedside table), however, depending on your bed frame, the Dock Pro control unit is flat enough to slide right underneath your bed frame (you only need 6.5 inches of clearance to fit the Dock Pro underneath your bed).
We find the Dock Pro’s hoses to be a little bulkier than the Dock Pro’s, and if you use the Dock Pro on both side of the bed, you will be running twice as many tubes, and need to fit 2 control units under your bed. We think that the Eight Sleep Pod 3 Cover is sleeker, fits better in bedrooms, and has easier tubes to manage.
The first time you install the Eight Sleep Pod 3 Cover is a bit of a workout as you need to zip it around your mattress. The Dock Pro’s Chilipad Pro mattress pad is easier to install for sure. Ultimately, once you have installed either system, you should not have to repeat that step as it can simply stay on your bed.
Noise Level
One major difference in using both products, is the noise level. The Dock Pro produces a fairly constant white noise that is noticeable, though faint (about the noise produced by your residential fridge). If you plan on using the WE (dual-sided) version of the Dock Pro, note that both control units will emit 41 to 46 dBA, totaling to 82 to 92 dBA, which we think is a little loud.
The Eight Sleep Hub is barely noticeable. It is nearly silent. If you are looking for white noise, go with the Dock Pro – it even gives you the option to be louder, if you are looking to cover street or neighbor noises for example. If you value quiet, the Eight Sleep has a definite edge.
Style
While the attachment style is different, we never had an issue with the Dock Pro snapping off of our mattress, so both are fairly comparable, though the Eight Sleep Pod 3 Cover is certain to stay put, since it encases your entire mattress.
Gentle Alarm
If waking up silently, not to wake up a partner, or just as a more natural way to wake up, is important to you, listen up. The Dock Pro will wake you up by raising its temperature. It will naturally wake your sleeping body thanks to increasing temperature.
The Eight Sleep uses a gentle chest vibration system. You can schedule the Eight Sleep to raise its temperature as well, if that is something you appreciate. Both are gentle ways to wake up, though quite different, and we trust the Eight Sleep’s vibrations a little more than the Dock Pro’s raising temperature.
AI Power
To me, the biggest difference to consider, after the financial impact, is the AI power of the Eight Sleep. I have loved seeing the app getting to know my partner and I. It delivers a smart heating / cooling function, which goal is solely to keep you asleep deeper. It learns from your sleep data every night, and gets smarter with every sleep. The AI ends up knowing your needs better than you do, providing you with smart sleep that gets you more rested when you wake up.
With the recent addition of the Sleep Tracker, the ChiliSleep Dock Pro can now track your sleep phases, heart rate and heart rate variability, and use the power of AI to make live temperature adjustments to keep you asleep.
Comfort
If you are considering either of those bed cooling systems, you have a mattress that you enjoy and want to keep sleeping on (if not, have you considered the Eight Sleep Pod Pro?). The Eight Sleep Pod 3 Cover is thicker and more padded than the Chilipad Pro that comes with the Dock Pro, providing more comfort than the Dock Pro. However, both are fairly unnoticeable. If we had to choose, the Eight Sleep Pod 3 Cover is softer and thicker, providing more comfort, than the Dock Pro’s Chilipad mattress pad, that feels more like a mesh, and a little rougher than the Eight Sleep.
ChiliSleep Dock Pro Review
The Dock Pro is a ChiliSleep product by SleepMe. ChiliSleep is a company dedicated to providing cooling and heating options for your bed. They have several products for sale, at different price points, and the Dock Pro is their top of the line, most expensive, and best performing sleep system. We have had a great experience testing the Dock Pro and it is a clear improvement over their prior models, providing cool even if your room is on the warmer side. We really like the option to purchase a single unit and save, if both partners are not interested in cooling / heating. The Chilipad Pro mattress pad is thin enough to not bother a partner who would not be using the Dock Pro.
We like that the Dock Pro can be used on an adjustable bed, but noticed a fair amount of white noise from the control unit, especially when using both sides of the bed (can be a plus for some). However, it worked as expected and kept us cool on hot nights, and warm on cold nights.
Eight Sleep Pod 3 Cover Review
The Pod 3 Cover is Eight Sleep’s direct competitor to the Dock Pro. It is the technology portion of the Eight Sleep Pod 3, which includes a whole 11″ mattress with it!
We like our comfortable and plush it feels, without feeling the water tubes. The Hub is nearly silent and the performance is incredible! We did not notice bedroom temperature to have an impact on the temperature achieved by the Eight Sleep – it cooled lower than we could handle, and heated higher than we could handle as well! We also loved that the Eight Sleep Cover starts cooling the bed 30 minutes prior to your schedule going-to-bed time, to be at your desired temperature by the time you get in!
We absolutely love the extras coming in the app – it is not just a cooling device, but a smart bed as well, with many more metrics and data points than the Dock Pro ChiliSleep app. The Eight Sleep app delivers in relaxation as well, with a well furnished library of content.
It can be a bit more of an investment (depending on your situation), which we believe to be worth it if you want all the bells and whistles, but never put yourself in a financial position of stress to acquire technology!
