Temperature management is crucial for a good night’s sleep, and the Plank Firm Luxe is built to address heat retention issues common with foam mattresses. However, given its firm design and dense foam layers, we found it to sleep warmer than softer mattresses.
The optional GlacioTex™ Cooling Cover helps mitigate this issue by creating a cool sleep surface. Even without this upgrade, the Plank Firm Luxe’s coil system allows for decent airflow, but if you tend to sleep hot, we highly recommend adding the cooling cover to your Plank Firm Luxe mattress.
Motion Transfer
Thanks to its individually wrapped Ascension coils, the Plank Firm Luxe offers decent motion isolation. Each coil is wrapped independently, which means that movements on one side of the mattress won’t ripple through to the other side. This makes it a good option for couples, especially those who have different sleep schedules or who are easily disturbed by movement.
We did find the Brooklyn Bedding Plank Firm Luxe to transfer a little more motion than softer mattresses, due to the high-density of the foams used in its build.
Maintenance & Durability
Maintenance
The Booklyn Bedding Plank Firm Luxe’s mattress cover is not removable. We highly recommend using a high-quality waterproof mattress protector to protect your investment from spills and stains.
In the event of a stain, tend to it as soon as possible, as dried stains are much harder to lift. Using a clean cloth, some clear water and a mild detergent, blot the stain without oversaturating with water. Rubbing the stain would risk spreading it, so make sure to only blot the stain. Let fully dry prior to add your sheets on the mattress.
Durability
The Brooklyn Bedding Plank Firm Luxe requires minimal maintenance. The flippable design allows for easy rotation and flipping, which can extend the mattress’ lifespan and reduce wear on a single side. Additionally, the high-density foams used in the mattress are less prone to sagging over time compared to lower-density foams.
