The Bear Elite Hybrid Mattress is a 14-inch mattress, built with a thoughtful combination of layers, each contributing to comfort, support, and temperature regulation.

Hand-Quilted Cushion Cover
The top layer is a hand-quilted cushion cover crafted from Phase Change Material (PCM) fabric. This technological material is designed for all-night cooling and plush comfort without the sinking sensation that traditional memory foam can create. It feels cool to the touch and adapts its temperature to the sleeper’s body temperature.
As with other mattresses, Bear allows you to upgrade for their Celliant-infused cover with Sleep Recovery Technology™, which regulates body temperature, promotes faster recovery, and enhances overall well-being—a feature particularly appealing to athletes and active individuals, as well as those who sleep hot at night.
Copper-Infused Memory Foam
Beneath the cover lies copper-infused memory foam. Copper’s natural antimicrobial properties help eliminate bacteria and unwanted odors while also dissipating excess body heat. Dynamic Transition Foam

The Bear Elite Hybrid mattress’ core is made of individually encased coils that deliver balanced support. Higher-gauge coils are placed in the center to enhance lumbar support, while reinforced edges prevent sagging and provide a sturdy perimeter. This allows for side-to-side sleeping, for a sleeping surface feeling about 20% wide than non-reinforced mattresses.
This coil layer promotes breathability and minimizes motion transfer, making the mattress an excellent choice for couples. It is a great option for those sit on the side of their bed to get in and out as well.

The Bear Elite Hybrid uses different layers to provide a temperature-neutral sleeping experience. The cover’s Phase Change Material adjusts its own temperature to the body’s temperature, ensuring hot, and cool, sleepers, always sleep on a temperature-neutral surface. The first layer of foam further improves the temperature control abilities of the mattress thanks to the copper infusion, while the layer of coils allows for plenty of air flow, which further cools the foam layers throughout the nights. |
Always protect your mattress with a waterproof mattress protector. In case of a spill, blot fresh stains with a clean cloth, fresh water, and a mild detergent. Do not rub stains to avoid spreading them, and ensure the mattress is dry prior to covering it with sheets again. |

Firmness - 3 Options - And Sleeping Styles
The Bear Elite Hybrid Mattress is available in three firmness levels to cater to different sleeping preferences:
Soft (5/10): Ideal for side sleepers or those who prefer a plush, cloud-like feel. We recommend it to all side-sleepers and back sleepers under 150 lbs who favor a plusher sleeping surface.
Medium (6/10): A versatile option that balances softness and support, suitable for most sleepers and great for couples with different sleeping styles. We recommend it for most back sleepers, as well as side-sleepers over 130 lbs who require a little more support, or those experiencing back pain.
Firm (7.5/10): Perfect for back and stomach sleepers seeking extra support and minimal sinkage. We recommend it to back sleepers with back pain, preferring firmer mattresses, or above 180 lbs; and stomach sleepers under 180 lbs. Over that weight, more support may be needed and we recommend mattresses rated at least 8/10.
For this review, we tested the Medium firmness, which we rated a 6/10 on the firmness scale, for a fairly average firmness performance. It delivered a perfect blend of contouring comfort and support, making it a well-rounded choice for couples with differing firmness preferences and who like spinal support with mild contouring.
Temperature Regulation
Temperature control is a standout feature of the Bear Elite Hybrid Mattress. The Phase Change Material fabric in the cover and the copper-infused memory foam work together to dissipate heat efficiently. In doing so, it allows your body to naturally regulate its own temperature to ensure you sleep at a comfortable temperature, no matter the environment and weather.
During testing, the mattress remained cool to the touch even after several hours of use and we never overheated or sweat, even in our Florida tests.
The individually encased coils further promote airflow, letting hot foam air escape and cooler room air coming in, preventing heat buildup and ensuring a fresh sleeping surface.
Motion Transfer
Motion isolation is one of the Bear Elite Hybrid Mattress’s strengths, thanks to its individually encased coils and transition foam layers. During testing, minimal motion transfer was observed, making it an excellent choice for couples—especially if one partner tends to toss and turn.
Maintenance & Durability
Maintaining the Bear Elite Hybrid Mattress is straightforward:
Rotation: Rotate the mattress 180 degrees every 3-6 months to ensure even wear. Do not, however, flip the Bear Elite Hybrid, as it is built with a specific order of layers.
Cleaning: The hand-quilted cover can be spot-cleaned with water, a mild detergent, and a damp cloth. Gently blot the stain, as fresh as possible, and do not rub it to avoid spreading it. Avoid saturating the fabric and make sure it fully dries before covering it back up with sheets.
Protection: Using a high-quality waterproof mattress protector is recommended to safeguard against spills and stains. It is your first barrier against accidents and the easiest and more efficient way to protect your mattress investment.

At check-out, you may decide to add the Celliant Infused Cover to your mattress. That mattress cover uses infrared technology to turn your body’s heat into waves of energy to help you sleep cooler and feel more rested when you wake up. Note that we have not tested this mattress cover upgrade. The upgrade will cost you between $150 and $200 depending on mattress size.
You can always choose the firmness level of your choice. From Soft to Medium to Firm, the firmness does not impact the price of the mattress.
Bear Mattress makes its mattresses in the USA and does not use any fiberglass in its constructions. This comes at a premium as you will see below, however, you should be able to score a discount of 30 to 35% depending on the type of year.
Shipping and returns are free in the continental United States, with additional delivery fees to Hawaii, Alaska. Bear does not currently ship outside of the country, to Military APOs or Puerto Rico.
